One of my pretty nieces, Savannah turned 1 recently! Here are some of the photos from the VERY hot and VERY short Maymont trip we took (maybe 25 minutes long).

I love being a photographer. I get to meet some incredible people, and I get to visit some amazing places. Honestly I’m just getting started on this journey – I really consider 2012 to be the beginning of my photography entrepreneurship. Sure, I’ve been shooting for a lot longer – but armed with new gear, a new business plan, and some seriously lofty goals; I’m a brand new… brand. It’s weird branding myself. My name is on all my photos, my name is stuck on hundreds of business cards now. It’s weird introducing myself to someone and they’ve heard my name already because of my photographs. But what’s even cooler is when I get to be a part of something SO MUCH larger than myself and my own little goals.

On February 20th, I got to be a part of the ‘Ron Paul is the Choice of the Troops’ rally in Washington, D.C. There were hundreds of veterans and active duty military men and women present, and nearly two thousand other Ron Paul supporters in the crowd.

That guy on the far right, and in the red/yellow PT Jacket is Adam Kokesh, of Adam Vs. The Man. Adam and one of my very best friends, Nathan Cox, organized the event, utilizing the Veterans for Ron Paul Facebook page. Adam and Nathan have been working together for the better part of a year now on TV, Radio, Internet, and everything in between – to explain the philosophy of liberty, and how Ron Paul embodies that philosophy on a national level for our United States of America.

Adam is known for his speeches, and the crowd went wild when he was finishing up his ‘open letter’ to the president with, “We can do this the easy way, or the hard way.”

The event had an after party in D.C. (which I couldn’t stay for unfortunately) with musical guests, Tatiana Moroz, Jordan Page, and the band, Golden State.

The march was a crazy-huge success – despite the lack of ‘traditional’ media coverage.

The Formation Marched from the Washington Memorial to the front steps of the White House – did an about face (turning their backs on the current regime) and held a salute for over eight and a half minutes, each second representing a solider who has gone to war, come home, and committed suicide while under the watch of the current regime. After that, the formation was at a parade rest, with their heads lowered in prayer for over twenty two minutes, each second representing a solider who has died in the line of duty under this current administration.

As a surprise to most, at the very end of the event, one of the co-organizers let out a resounding “CHARGE!” and all of the troops charged the hill of the Washington Monument.

All in all, it was an amazing experience. One that really has opened a lot of doors for me, not just in photography, but in conversation. Photography is simply one, small, aspect of my life – and being part of something way larger than myself reminds me of that. I hope each one of us have the intention to be better today, than we were yesterday.
